Myself and music

As far as I know music always played a major role in my life. My earliest memories lead me back to "Aunt Margret's fledgling' choir" (Tante Margrets Kücken Chor) where I acquired fundamental musical skills and visited a recording studio for the first time in my live.

During this time the driving force that made me visit the children"s choir and violin lessons week for week were my parents; in particular the female part of the two. On one memorable day in the year 1997 I was finally able to call the first guitar my own, which threw its previously mentioned competitors soon out of the race. From now on my mother no longer needed to serve as the musical gas paddle but rather as the brake, whenever I filled the neighbourhood with the sound of my 60 watts Marshall Amp playing the same chord sequence over and over again.

It became clear to me only some months later, that an acoustic guitar was never meant to be played over the high gain channel of an electric guitar amp.

In the winter of 1999 during a sleigh tour Benjamin Schuster and I decided to start a band, which later developed into "Devotion" where I started as the lead guitar player. Two years later Timothey Lucey, Peter Maletich and I started another Band "Fernits Peurnets" where I tried my best to function as the lead singer of a Rock Band. I also started to write a few acoustic songs that did not fit into any of band I was playing in. I soon appreciated these acoustic songs for there simpicity and realised that they suited my voice a lot better.

In the summer of 2005 I left Germany to study in Sydney Australia. Leaving all the other Bands behind my whole musical focus was now on writing Songs for my oneman band. In the winter brake I went back to Germany and played some of these songs to Matthias Buhl a god friend of mine. We decided to record a couple of these songs and finally decided to record a little Album when my Brother David entered the team. To our big surprise this Album sold over 6000 times until today.

Back in Australia, Yannick Ulich and I started busking in Paramatta as we both ran out of money within the same week. Playing music on the streets soon became our only way to pay our bills.

Some months later David again entred the team; now as the cajon player of the band and finally became the right hand of the Samuel Harfst band. In July of 2007 David and I flew back to Germany to record "Audiotagebuch". We started busking with Dominik Schweiger and Dirk Menger playing the Cello which we continue to do until this day.

Although or maybe just because busking is so unpredictable we still try to go busking at least twice a week in order to spread the music throughout Germany, Europe and soon the entitre Solar-System :)
