Press echo:
“a present to your ears” “everything but mediocre” “handmade music with character” “warm, unobtrusive sound” “goes straight to the heart”
Samuel Harfst, a German singer-songwriter who has made it from busker to major record deal, to world record holder, to iPhone advertising and not long afterwards opened for Whitney Houston. What sounds like a modern fairytale is the story of a musician who has touched people of all ages with his music. The story of a 26 year-old who has already released six albums.
His name stands for hand-crafted music with character. Anyone who hears Samuel’s music will not cease to be amazed: amazed by the soft tones, that speak directly to the heart, that create a sense of closeness, that are moving and stir up the emotions. They will be amazed by the simple and yet, at the same time, artistic and creative lyrics, that impress with their great depth and clever turns of phrase and that contain so much truth. And they will be amazed by the young man who seems to turn the whole world around him on its head.
After six years, five albums, hundreds of thousands of kilometres and over one thousand performances - on the streets of Germany, Europe and Australia, in clubs and concert halls - it was time to take a “step back”, as reflected in the title of his new album “Schritt Zurück”.
Time to reminisce about what it was that led Samuel Harfst and his band to turn their backs on safety and step forward into an uncertain future - their love of music and its creator. With “Schritt Zurück”, Samuel Harfst goes back to his roots and creates an album which is more individual and more personal than ever before. An album which was created on a journey and which will take anyone who engages with it on their own personal journey.
